    FAQs & Helpful Hints:

Attaching pictures / images to posts

Attaching images of bar codes is popular for Omniplanar support issues. There are two popular ways to attach images to a forum post:

    A. Use the attach file function in the OPTIONS section of the post - When writing a new post or replying to a post there is an 'OPTIONS' tab at the top of the post. At the top of this tab is a button that will allow you to add one attached file to the post. The limit on the size of this file is 1.5MB so zipping may be necessary for very large or multiple images. There is an image of a QR Code attached to this post using this method.

    B. Use a Photo Sharing site to link to the URL of an image - I like to use www.Flickr.com but there are a whole host of web sites that will host images for you for free and provide a URL to link to that image anywhere. Simply upload an image to a photo sharing site of your choosing and then get the URL for the image. Use either the 'Insert/edit Image' icon on the Message menu of the post or the attachment function from the 'options' tab described above to paste the URL of the image in. The picture below is my rowhome that I just put up for sale in Philly that is posted from www.Flickr.com using this method. Here is the url - http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1345/859553510_c6f0a28c3b_m.jpg

Using this method any number of photos can be linked to in a post without worrying about exceeding file size restrictions. It is my preferred method when posting online to forums and blogs.

    Member Rankings

You may have noticed that an image of a bar code along with a ranking number is appearing below your user name on your posts. This is because we rank our members on how many posts, replys, rankings, downloads... they have contributed. Since we're a bunch of bar code [experts] we have based our rankings on bar code symbologies starting with the most worthless bar codes and moving up to the most outstanding bar code symbologies in our opinion. Below is an image of the ranking system we have setup. So start contributing and graduate from your starting status as a lowly Patch Code!
